It has been a nice Sunday so far. We had a good Sunday School lesson, the music was good in the worship service, and Bro. Jeff delivered an energized message. We are having our discipleship group over tonight, so I look forward to that.
I worked in Washington, DC this week. That's where the office is, but I work from home. I usually go there once a year or so, but learned as soon as I returned from this trip that I have to go back in two weeks. We had a strategic planning meeting, went to a neat museum about news called, what else, "The Newseum." We had dinner at Fogo De Chao, which is one of those Brazilian steak houses where they carry around huge skewers of meat and you eat until you never want to see meat again. It was good.
Here are some pictures. I won't be taking my camera next time because I really don't go anywhere to take good pics. This is the hotel where I stayed - The Phoenix Park. It's historic and I can prove it.
Walk out under that green awning and look right and you see this:
Look to the left and you see this:
Ok, I hope this makes sense. If you walk around the corner of the hotel (to the left), you are headed toward the office. It's a couple of buildings back and appears to be beside the "Do Not Enter" sign, but that's an illusion. See that yellow vehicle thing? And the silver car beside it? Go back to that other car on that side of the road, and the office is back there where those little green awnings are. The building with the white is the hotel.
If you enter the building and go to the 3rd floor, you see the office of the National American Indian Housing Council.
About the hotel: how many places do you go where the wall paper and curtains match so closely?
And there is a mail chute near the elevator on every floor and a mailbox in the lobby. I wonder if anyone used it? I would have to be staying there a long time before finding the need to mail something. Oh, and the relic in the foreground? It's an ashtray. (haha)
I took this picture at the Newseum. It's a piece of the Berlin Wall. My favorite exhibit was a display of Pulitzer Prize winning photos. They also have a 4-D movie about reporters. The chairs move, they spray water in your face, and a rat crawls on your leg. Or it feels like it.
Here is the edible bouquet that the boss got for me and the other fellow who works from his home. The DC folks always celebrate birthdays with cake and such, and since we never get to be there, they wanted to celebrate our birthdays. John's was in June. Mine was in March! Felt silly being sung "Happy Birthday" but the fruit was nice.
Our little family is heading out on vacation Tuesday. Going to Broken Bow to fish, swim, relax, and bond. I don't know why I said that, but I am sure we will. We are taking our bikes and the boat. Should be a great time.
Hope everyone has a wonderful week. And in case I miss it, Happy Birthday to you. (haha)
